VIVOBAREFOOT Launches Primus Lite II Bio: A Sustainable Plant-Based Performance Shoe
VIVOBAREFOOT, a global leader in barefoot footwear, has launched its most innovative sustainable shoe yet—the Primus Lite II Bio. Touted as one of the world’s first plant-based performance shoes, this new release aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the footwear industry.
The unisex Primus Lite II Bio is crafted using over 30% renewable plant-based materials, including Bio TPU derived from yellow dent field corn, natural rubber, and harvested algae known as Bloom. By utilizing these sustainable materials, VIVOBAREFOOT is moving away from single-use petroleum-based components. The result is an award-winning design that is the brand’s lightest and most efficient performance shoe to date, weighing approximately 10% less than standard performance shoes currently on the market.
This launch comes on the heels of an independent consumer research study commissioned by VIVOBAREFOOT earlier this year. The study, conducted in April 2019, revealed that while consumers have varying definitions of sustainability, a common priority is the use of eco-friendly materials in their purchases. These findings bolster VIVOBAREFOOT’s mission to eliminate petrochemicals and transition to 100% sustainable materials within the next two years.
The Primus Lite II Bio will be available in a limited run starting May 20th, priced at $160. This release marks a significant step forward for VIVOBAREFOOT as it continues to lead the charge in sustainable innovation within the footwear market.
